This large solid amber is hand carved with hummingbirds on the back. This method of carving design on stone is known as an “intaglio”. This stone was mined, carved and cut by Pablo’s family in southern Mexico, purchased from www.newcabochons.com .
Amber is fossilized tree resin/sap that is approximately 20 million years old. It hangs on a 18” gold filled cable chain.
The design features 3 herkimers set underneath the stone, each with a handmade window cutout on the back. The Rococo era was all about nature, specifically flowers, leaves and birds. The designs of that period whether jewelry, architecture or painting is exquisite and over the top with many gems and color in each piece.
Please do not wear this necklace in any water or to sleep as Amber is extremely soft and easily scratched. Please keep the chain and Amber free of any water, perfume or lotions.
